Offers breakthroughs in capacity, performance, and reliability for midrange and network tape storage environments
Adheres to widely supported Linear Tape-Open(tm) (LTO) Ultrium(tm) design specifications IBM Ultrium Scalable Tape Library - A flexible solution
In today`s business environment, the number of clients and servers continues to grow almost exponentially. From midrange systems to large-scale server-based operations, the UltraScalable Tape Library is designed to handle backup, archive, and disaster recovery data storage needs with ease.
Advanced features
The UltraScalable Tape Library has a variety of advanced technical features. The multi-path architecture is designed to enable you to simultaneously attach heterogeneous servers and applications to LTO and DLTtape(tm) logical library partitions.
Remote management capabilities using a Web browser provides library control and configuration. Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) functionality is also included. LTO I/O expansion capability is available with a 20-cartridge option, which can be added to the standard10 cartridge feature. Hot swap drives and redundant power offer enhanced availability. The standard dual media picker has a barcode scanner for optical cartridge recognition. To help provide data integrity, the library performs a fast auto-inventory any time it is opened. A touch-screen LCD panel enables convenient local review of library status and provides control over local functions.
Software support
You can maximize the power of the UltraScalable Tape Library by managing it with industry-leading tape management solutions such as Tivoli(r) Storage Manager or other storage software. These solutions offer highly automated, centrally scheduled, policy-managed backup and archive facilities to protect data in distributed enterprises.
Why IBM LTO?
LTO is an open tape architecture developed by a consortium of three world-class storage producers. Open means availability from multiple vendors. IBM means a new technology from a time-proven and innovative tape technology leader.
IBM LTO Ultrium drives share best-of-breed technology. Advanced multi-track recording capabilities, state-of-the-art magneto-resistive (MR) heads, and a sophisticated track following servo system work together to produce extremely high recording densities. Error correction code (ECC) function helps provide data integrity.
IBM and IBM authorized providers also provide service and technical support when you invest in an IBM LTO Ultrium solution-including a complete array of servers, software, printers, and storage devices. IBM 3584 UltraScalable Tape Library at a glance
