The Infinistore Tape Library (ITL) is an unbeatable automated storage solution — combining the most reliable drive, controller and robotics technologies in a system designed for the protection and storage of critical business data 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The ITL is an extremely robust automated storage management solution. The library’s high-performance design includes storage capacity scalability from 10 TB to over 50 TB, superior reliability, and innovatively designed robotics that allow the library to process cartridges in up to 16 tape drives simultaneously without slowing operation. And upgrading is easy: this library can be converted at any time to become an Infinistore Virtual Disk network-attached (NAS) storage system.

Fast Access

To attain its high performance, the Infinistore Tape Library uses unique and highly reliable robotics architecture as well as new controller technology within individual components, eliminating the need for time-consuming calibration and adjustment. High-speed cartridge processing is also a result: 350 tape exchanges per hour in the tape library and 700 per hour with the virtual disk system.

Scalable and Simple to Operate

Designed to maximize ease of use and reliability, library operation and status can be accessed from a 12-inch display on the library’s operator panel or a Java-based remote management console. The console interface provides system alerts and service notifications. Designed for maximum uptime, drive servicing and system expansion can be performed without interrupting library operation.

SAN-Ready

The Infinistore Tape Library is easily adapted as a Storage Area Network (SAN) component or a server-attached subsystem. An optional Fibre Channel module connects the library and tape drives to a SAN. Up to eight Fibre Channel connections are available, delivering a total bandwidth that ranges from 100 megabytes (MB) per second to an astounding 800 MB per second.
